A premier national gathering of Canada’s Cryo-EM community, bringing together researchers, industry leaders, and innovators for two days of collaboration and discovery. This event will feature keynote talks, poster sessions, and networking mixers designed to foster dialogue and drive progress in cryo-electron microscopy and related fields.
From cutting-edge instrumentation to emerging applications in structural biology, NEXUS 2026 offers a platform to explore the latest advancements, share insights, and build lasting connections across disciplines. Whether you're a seasoned expert or a new entrant to the field, this event is your gateway to the future of Cryo-EM in Canada.
We are proud to announce Dr. Bridget Carragher as the Plenary Speaker at NEXUS 2026, Canada’s premier cryo‑electron microscopy conference.
Dr. Carragher is an internationally respected leader in cryo‑EM, structural biology, and automated electron microscopy. She currently holds multiple leadership roles across academic and industry settings. Her primary current position is Founding Technical Director of the Chan Zuckerberg Imaging Institute (CZII), a role she assumed in January 2023. She also serves as Chief Technology Officer of Nano Imaging Services, the company she founded. Before leading the CZII, Dr. Carragher directed the Simons Electron Microscopy Center in New York and the National Resource for Automated Molecular Microscopy (NRAMM), at Scripps. These organizations were among the first cryo-EM national resources worldwide and defined a model for sharing such resources to maximize impact.
Her work has been instrumental in improving accessibility, automation, and data quality in cryo‑EM, significantly shaping modern workflows used across academia, national facilities, and industry worldwide.
Dr. Carragher’s leadership and vision align strongly with NEXUS 2026’s mission to advance and connect the Canadian cryo‑EM community.
